Online therapy for teenagers and young adults
Start with a free telephone call of around 15 minutes.
Sometimes getting to the therapy room can be difficult. Life can be busy, and having to travel can sometimes feel overwhelming. Online appointments can help make therapy more accessible for those who find it hard to meet in person. Whatever the reason. So if this is something you are interested in, we can discuss whether this is a suitable way of working for you or your child as part of the initial call.
I’m Dr Chloe Bedford, a Counselling Psychologist registered with the HCPC. I work online with people of all ages across the UK, including teenagers and young adults. I also offer sessions for parents who would like support in understanding and helping their child.
What we can work on
My work includes anxiety and phobias, low mood and depression, low self-esteem, trauma, and eating difficulties. We will start by understanding what is happening and what you would like help with.
I draw on approaches including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and psychodynamic approaches, tailoring the work to the person. Sessions may involve making sense of experiences, practical ways of responding to difficulties, or a combination.

How to begin
1. Send a short enquiry. Tell me whether you are looking for yourself or someone else, and a little about what you need. I aim to reply within two working days.
2. Have a free initial call. In around 15 minutes, we can discuss your concerns, answer questions and consider whether I am the right person to help.
3. Arrange a first session. Sessions last 50 minutes and cost £140. We will discuss who should attend and how to join before the appointment.
I will email the practical arrangements before your first session, including the details relevant to your appointment.
Questions about online therapy
How are parents involved in a young person’s therapy?
It depends on the child’s age and presentation. I usually involve parents in the initial assessment and at reviews every six weeks. Parents may also join sessions or have parent-only appointments alongside the young person’s sessions. We will discuss privacy and information-sharing together.
Can I enquire as a young adult without a parent?
Yes. You can contact me directly about support for yourself.
Can parents have sessions without their child?
Yes. Parent consultations can be a place to begin when a child is not ready to take part, or can run alongside their therapy. One or both parents are welcome. Parent sessions also last 50 minutes and cost £140.
What do I need for an online session?
A device that supports video calls, a reliable internet connection and a private space where you can speak comfortably. We will discuss arrangements appropriate to your age and circumstances, including parent involvement and privacy for children and teenagers.
Is online therapy suitable for everyone?
Suitability depends on the person’s age, needs, privacy and support available. For eating difficulties, physical health and any medical care also matter. We will discuss these considerations and whether another form of support would be more appropriate.
